What is a Dependant?

A dependant is an individual who relies on the policyholder for financial support, such as a spouse, child, or relative. Dependants are often named as beneficiaries in life or health insurance policies. Designating dependants helps ensure that loved ones receive support if the policyholder dies or becomes incapacitated.
