Our story

In 1994, three young brokers (and a dog) took their destinies into their own hands and created an insurance brokerage with independence, employee-ownership and clients’ needs at front of mind.

Since then, Howden has grown into a multinational business, but remains true to the same approach that has won us long-standing clients, some of the best talent in the industry, and even a few awards for our cabinet.

Our unique high street branch network continues to grow, reflecting our commitment to serving our personal and home clients directly. Together, we are combining our collective power to be a force for good in communities across the country.

Making a complaint

We work hard to provide our clients with a first class service. If you are not happy with any aspect of the service you have received, we would like to know and will do all we can to resolve the situation. In the first instance, please contact your local Branch Manager, who will try to resolve matters for you or you can email us on complaints@howdeninsurance.co.uk.

We act on behalf of insurance companies or Lloyd's syndicates: the complaint procedure that will apply depends on whose behalf we act. To identify which procedure applies to you, please refer to your policy wording. If you have any doubt on which procedure applies to you, we will be happy to help.

If you are still not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). For further information, you can visit the FOS website https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk
